Privacy Notice

Last updated: 21 May 2026. Meerkat Energy (Pty) Ltd respects your privacy and handles personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

1. Who we are

2. Information we collect

  • Contact form submissions: name, company, email, phone, and the content of your message.
  • Analytics: anonymised usage data via Google Analytics, pages viewed, approximate location, device type. No personally identifiable information is collected by analytics on this site.
  • Anti-spam (Google reCAPTCHA): our contact form and phone-number reveal use Google reCAPTCHA to detect automated traffic. reCAPTCHA may collect hardware and software information (e.g. device data, browser data) which is sent to Google for analysis. Use of reCAPTCHA is subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
  • Cookies: only those strictly necessary for the site to function (no advertising or tracking cookies).

3. How we use it

Information you submit via the contact form is used only to respond to your enquiry and follow up on any work we agree to. Analytics data is used in aggregate to understand which pages are useful and which need improvement. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Lawful basis

Processing is carried out on the basis of:

  • Consent, when you actively submit a form on this site.
  • Legitimate interest, to operate, secure, and improve the website.

5. Retention

Contact-form submissions are retained for as long as needed to action the enquiry plus one year for record-keeping. Analytics data is retained per Google Analytics' default policy (currently 14 months).

6. Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information; to object to processing; and to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za). To exercise any of these rights, email info@meerkatenergy.co.za.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information from loss, misuse, or unauthorised access. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit access to your data on a need-to-know basis.

8. Changes to this notice

We may update this notice from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects when material changes took effect.
